"This is a thoughtful book on an increasingly important topic. Israel provides readers with an operator's manual of how Rove and his followers have sought to dominate. Israel provides a balanced, non-polemic treatment of controversial subjects.
Summing Up: Highly recommended. All readership levels."

Steve Bennett, San Antonio Express-News:
"...a penetrating view of Rove and his political methods and successes, gleaned from personal and e-mail conversations...As Israel dug deeper, he began to see Rove as the embodiment of a deeper ideological shift to the right with roots stretching back to FDR's presidency. Israel describes a dinner party at Rove's Hill Country home and studying him during that UT-Austin course titled Politics and the Press.
In the end, says Israel, this story is not about Karl Rove alone. He is emblematic of the larger rise of the right and how it has been effective in changing the ideological perspective of the country over the past 80 years."
Deric Mendes, California's North Coast Journal:
"Rove's modus operandi is something that author...Bill Israel has studied firsthand...Israel once helped Rove teach a course in college journalism, giving him an inside view of Rove's political philosophies."

"An informative work from someone inside the storm"
By Anthony Pierulla
"Mr. Israel has written a book that ties so many loose ends together that you cannot believe why the fourth estate never pursued these questions. His style is clear, concise, to the point and a pleasure to read. It took me more time than I anticipated simply because I could hardly read a page without underlining at least half of it and finding myself going over it lest I missed something I needed to commit to memory. Please read this book. You will not be disappointed and perhaps you can point young minds to it and even to the classes Bill teaches.

"Definitely, MUST READ"
By Mauri Moore Shuler
(former NBC News producer and bureau chief)
"...If you are at all interested in how we are manipulated, read this book. If you want to do something about it, read this book. If you wonder what happened in the past decades, read this book.
"Scary conclusion:
"The reality in which we live and upon which we base our decisions every day is not just manipulable - it's utterly reversible. Our political reality has been, and continues to be, stolen."
"I am a retired journalist and am incredibly impressed with the research, organization and style in Israel's work. It is immensely readable and well-annotated. He is actually very fair to Rove.
"So, forget any other book about Rove... they are amateurs compared to this one because this author puts Rove in context with our nation's history of propaganda.
"All journalists, politicians and citizens should read this book.
"Publishers turned this book down because they were afraid Rove would sue them. Let's show Rove that WE will decide what is best to read.

"Chilling and Compelling"
By B. Cleveland, Amazon.com
"Bill Israel has written a brilliant, one-of-a-kind book which is a fascinating, if sobering, read that should be required reading for every adult who has fallen victim to Rove's insidiously inspired tactics. a masterful job. I hope the next book that he writes will give us an equally compelling view about how we can take back our country."

"If you read the news, you must read this book!"
By Steven Masters, Amazon.com
"I appreciated the humanizing of Karl Rove, though I'm still reluctant to give him much slack-- particularly every time I catch a Hannity-Rove slurp fest on FXNWS. In his defense, Mr. Israel does hint that the Karl Rove he worked with in Texas is not necessarily the same Karl Rove we see in public. The primer on the history of cultural propaganda was of particular interest and immediately set me to learning more about Gramsci."

"Must read"
By Tom Walsh, retired journalist:
"This is a brilliant, insightful and amazing, eye-opening whistle-blower analysis of the Rove-Cheney manipulation of power over eight years of destroying what little is left of America. How many wars can Obama inherit? Wars that continue to profit Cheney, while Rove takes thousands per hour for speaking about what it was like to be Amerika's Goebbels."
